Some notes about accuracy:
Some of the information in the pdfs found here comes from "The Tomkins-Tompkins Genealogy" by Robert A Tompkins 1942.
T-TG Accuracy raises serious questions about the accuracy of the T-TG.  Matt Tompkins' arguments ring quite true to me and I'm in the process of cleaning up these files in accord with some of what he says.  In the mean time, just view the stuff from Thom down to Ralph Tomkyns as a bit of romantic fiction.  It may be fun to read but it isn't accurate.

Matt has also written an article about the origins of the surnames Tomkins and Tompkins which is very interesting.

These files also contain a line from John Alden down to MHT.  Information at the
Alden Kin 8 Generation Search Project seems to corroborate that Mayflower line but cannot be taken as proof.

A Puzzle From Aunt Bernice:
Back in April (2007) Aunt Bernice sent a copy of Eliza Melissa Coleman Tompkins' obituary (pdf) and a copy of a letter to Marcus Tompkins from his cousin Dwight W. Davis.   The obituary says, "She leaves a husband and son, two sisters, one residing at Churchville, the other at Madison, N. Y., and a brother George Coleman, of this place, to mourn her early demise."
We know the son to be Marcus.  From Dwight's letter, we can surmise that one of the sisters is his mother, Libbie.  The puzzle or "pleasant treasure hunt" as Aunt Bernice called it is to find out more about the Coleman and Davis families.  The results of what has indeed been (and continues to be) a pleasant treasure hunt are here.
A few reports from FamilyTreeMaker and PAF:
A hearty *THANKYOU* goes out to Ken Ferlita who in 1997 graciously provided a copy of his ftw database. Although I have some of the information shown in Francesco Tagliarini Descendants from independent sources, the bulk came from Ken.
